HOT TOPIC: Build on OpenStack Clouds using Python Objects and Code!
Sponsored by Dell and Rackspace
Wednesday, February 13, 2013, from 6:30 – 9:30 PM, Sonian Auditorium, 85 Wells Avenue, Newton, MA
TOPIC: OpenStack API's are great, but I want to use Python
Ed Leafe, Developer Evangelist, at Rackspace will talk about "pyrax" a Python language binding for OpenStack.
ABSTRACT:
The Rackspace Cloud, powered by OpenStack, is a great platform for building applications. For Python developers, though, the only way to do this until recently was to work with the low-level HTTP APIs, or pick from a myriad of individual service bindings. But that is no longer true, thanks to 'pyrax', the Python language binding for the Rackspace Cloud. By installing pyrax, you have the ability to build on the Rackspace Cloud using standard Python objects and code, as well as any other OpenStack-based cloud provider.
SPEAKER
Ed Leafe, Developer Evangelist, Python developer extraordinaire with Rackspace. Also known as the Dabo Dude.
Ed has been a developer for over 20 years, and is one of the original developers involved with OpenStack. After leaving the Microsoft world over a decade ago he has been primarily a Python developer, and has spoken as several US PyCons. He has been working with Rackspace for the past 5 years. He also throws a mean Frisbee. Connect with Ed at http://dabodev.com (http://dabodev.com/), Twitter: @Edleafe
Cinder Project Update from Austin Meetup Live via WebEx
Austin OpenStack meetup is also happening on this same day starting at 7:30 est (6:30 cst). If we have a good Internet connection in the auditorium, we will try and connect to this talk via WebEx.
John Griffith, SolidFire's lead open source developer and the Project Technical Lead (PTL) for the OpenStack Block Storage project (i.e. Cinder) will provide an update on the OpenStack Block Storage project and a sneak preview of what is coming in the Grizzly release. John will also demo some of the newest Cinder features on a SolidFire cluster.
