September OpenStack Meetup - Storage Double Header Event!!

Yo yo yo - time to meetup in September! We have a GREAT double header event this month.

First up, our event co-sponor HP will present an overview of Ceph storage, using material taken from HP's publicly available OpenStack courses. The focus will be on the basic functionality, building blocks, and configurations that comprise this flexible storage capability frequently used with OpenStack.

Presenters include long time OpenStack supporters Harry Sutton and Bill Horzempa of HP.

Session two brings us John Dickinson: John is Director of Technology with Swiftstack and is the PTL for the OpenStack Swift project. John will share valuable stuff that's going to make developing with Swift easy by offloading the hard problems of storage. OpenStack Swift makes your application better. John will cover how application developers can take advantage of some of the more advanced features in Swift, including... TempURL, StaticWeb, FormPost, and Static or Dynamic Large Objects among others.

John will also cover what is coming in OpenStack Swift from a Roadmap perspective.

John joined SwiftStack in 2011 as Director of Technology coming from Rackspace. As the Project Technical Lead (PTL) for OpenStack Swift, John has been a leading force on Projects such as Geographical Clustering, Storage Policies, and most recently Erasure Codes. John is also leading much of its community development efforts.

• DON'T FORGET - for security reasons, the NERD center requires attendees to show a government issued photo ID in order to gain access into the building.

• Parking: Best option for parking is the NERD center parking garage which charges a flat rate after 4pm.
