OpenStack IaaS and PaaS - match made in heaven or ...???

Greetings everyone! Mark your calendars now for our May OpenStack Meetup

Come on out and meetup as we get after the intersection of OpenStack and Platform as a Service (PaaS). We will review how you can combine OpenStack IaaS (such at Cisco Metapod) and PaaS (such as Apprenda) to create immense power and hit the following use cases:

• Layering a PaaS on top of OpenStack so the PaaS can autoscale

• Using Heat templates so DevOps can offer up third-party technologies to developers "as a service"

• Deploying apps in a containerized fashion using the PaaS

PRESENTER:

Boston-based engineer John “gif" Giffin will lead our session. Gif is a Senior Solutions Architect with Apprenda, where he helps people configure solutions around PaaS and Kubernetes. After a career deploying apps in the enterprise, he thinks we can do this a better way. Gif comes out of MIT with a degree in computer science and a minor in theater arts to keep him sane. Outside of the software arena, he's a martial artist and a foodie.

• A light dinner and soft drinks will be provided courtesy of Apprenda ~ 6:15pm and we will kick off the sessions ~ 7:00pm.

• DON'T FORGET - for security reasons, the NERD center requires attendees to show a government issued photo ID in order to gain access into the building.

• Parking: Best option for parking is the NERD center parking garage which charges a flat rate after 4pm.
