The meetup this time is action packed. Three presenters, three platforms: something for everyone.

First up is Karthik Rau, CEO and Founder of SignalFx (https://signalfx.com/). SignalFx is a cool new startup from Silicon Valley. Backed by Andreessen Horowitz, SignalFx provides an advanced monitoring service for modern applications and infrastructure. Karthik will present a solid case study: How SignalFx uses SignalFx.

Next, we have Daniel Martinez, Senior Sales Engineer at Splunk (https://www.splunk.com/). Splunk is the original OI platform, and it has an extensive app ecosystem (https://splunkbase.splunk.com/). Daniel will demonstrate how Splunk apps can help you get value from your data -- faster.

Last, but not least, Marji Cermak, Co-Founder and Systems Engineer at Morpht (http://morpht.com/), will demonstrate how easy it is to get started with the Elastic Stack (https://www.elastic.co/products).

And a last minute update! Alois Reitbauer will present an intriguing lightning talk: Can Monitoring Tools Pass the Turing Test?

Looking forward to seeing you there!

How SignalFx Uses SignalFx

SignalFx is built by small teams developing, deploying, maintaining, and operating their own microservices using technologies like AWS, Docker, Elasticsearch, Cassandra, Kafka, Zookeeper and more.

CEO and Co-Founder Karthik Rau will show how SignalFx engineering uses SignalFx to get deep visibility into the operation of all the services, understand how changes in user behavior affect the infrastructure, and track deviations in application performance. Ultimately, leading to high signal to noise ratio in alerting and operational intelligence.

Presenter

Karthik Rau is the CEO and a Founder of SignalFx. Before SignalFx, he held leadership positions as VP Product Management and Worldwide Marketing at VMware and most recently as VP Products and Engineering at Delphix.

Getting Started with the Elastic Stack

The (B)ELK stack – Beats, Elasticsearch, Logstash and Kibana – is a popular combination for aggregating, filtering and visualising data from multiple log streams. The focus of this presentation will be on how easy it is to start using the Elastic Stack.

After introducing the components, we will cover how to run the stack on your server or development VM with just a few commands – using the power of Docker – and quickly analyse some of your logs.

Presenter

Marji Cermak, Co-Founder and Systems Engineer at Morpht (http://morpht.com/). Specialising in DevOps, Drupal, (B)ELK, automated systems management, and developer workflow. Despite of the typical nature of most sysadmins, he likes people as well :)
