From the legendary Studio Ghibli, creators of Spirited Away, Howl's Moving Castle, and The Secret World of Arrietty, comes another animated triumph. Yokohama, 1963. Japan is picking itself up from the devastation of World War II and preparing to host the Olympics. The mood is one of both optimism and conflict as the young generation struggles to throw off the shackles of a troubled past. Against this backdrop of hope and change, a friendship begins to blossom between high school students Umi (Sarah Bolger) and Shun (Anton Yelchin) – but a buried secret from their past emerges to cast a shadow on the future and pull them apart. From a screenplay by Academy Award-winner Hayao Miyazaki and featuring an all-star English voice cast!

Not taking a shower also makes me happy...because I love taking baths. Haha... I'm glad to hear you got to hit your reset button with the whole unplugging while carrying very expensive camping equipment/building fires/fighting off potential mountain lions that never showed up! :)

Let's start a 'short list' for next time ... mentioned tonight at the meetup: Ikiru, Twilight Samurai, Akira ... let's keep those suggestions coming! Thanks everyone!

I had a very enjoyable time...and enough sodium intake for the whole upcoming week. Great space, movie and organizer.

Desperately want to see this show (I've seen all of his movies except this and Ponyo), but I'm feeling a little ill… Despite not knowing any of you, I would still consider myself evil if I infected anyone with a cold. Hope I can make future movie nights :-|

There's also the lot on Judge John Aiso that's a flat fee of $3 after 5PM daily and on Fridays, I think it's open until 2AM, though it could be midnight. I think it's midnight on most weekdays. Here's the location for anyone interested! http://www.yelp.com/biz/aiso-parking-lot-los-angeles

Opodz is located a block away from the Little Tokyo Metro Station. So if you can, take the Metro. If not, there is parking on site - only $4 after 4pm. We do not recommend street parking, reinforced by the City of LA, but if you end up parking on the street be sure to keep an eye on that meter.

Hello, I'm still new here, is there any parking lots around this place?

There is parking on site - only $4 after 4pm. There is another one next door and a couple of other parking lots around us but they will be more expensive. We do not normally recommend street metered parking reinforced by the City of LA, but if you park on the street be sure to keep an eye on that meter.

We just grab a coffee and speak French. Some people have been coming every week for months... it creates a kind of warmth to the group.
