Oracle NoSQL - A Piece in the Puzzle of Big Data Solutions
Details
Please join the Oracle and ScaleDB engineering teams to discuss pieces in the Big Data Solutions puzzle at the Trulia facility, 116 New Montgomery, San Francisco, CA.
Enjoy Beer and Pizza while networking with fellow techies!
Agenda:
6:00 - 6:45 - Registrations. Socialize over food and beer
6:45 - 7:30 – Oracle NoSQL 2.0, Big Data landscape, upcoming release and Demo; Dave Rubin (Director, Oracle NoSQL Product Development).
7:30 - 8:00 – ScaleDB: Scaling MySQL dynamically in the cloud; Moshe Shadmon (Founder and CTO, ScaleDB Inc.)
8:00 - 9:00 - Socialize over food and beer
Speakers:
Dave Rubin, Director of NoSQL Product Development at Oracle:Dave has extensive background in big data systems. Prior to Oracle, Dave was with Cox Enterprises where he ran the Infrastructure Engineering organization responsible for developing big data systems in the Online Display Advertising vertical. Previously, he ran the engineering teams at Rapt Inc, delivering Price Optimization and Inventory Forecasting solutions to online media companies. Dave started his career at Sybase and holds four U.S. patents in the areas of query optimization and advanced transaction models.
In this meetup, Dave Rubin will share how NoSQL fits into the overall big data landscape and the Oracle NoSQL Database evolution and the upcoming release along with a product demo. You will have ample opportunity to network, ask questions and share your wish list.
Moshe Shadmon, Founder and CTO, ScaleDB Inc.: Moshe has more than 20 years of experience in both technical and management roles in companies developing data management solutions. Moshe’s technical experience has been in the areas of database clustering, high performance indexing solutions as well as the development of a unified solution for structured and semi-structured data. Since 2006, Moshe has become increasingly interested in the opportunity presented by the open source databases and founded ScaleDB to develop a database platform targeting performance, efficiency and scalability with large data sets.
In this meetup, Moshe will share his experiences in scaling MySQL in the cloud by dynamically adding database and storage instances. Learn about achieving High Availability in the cloud with large data sets overcoming traditional challenges of cloud-hosted servers being less reliable and predictable than dedicated hardware. ScaleDB architecture is based on a cluster of MySQL servers and storage nodes such that multiple MySQL servers update and query the same physical database without the need to partition/shard the data. This talk will demonstrate the architecture and benchmarks of ScaleDB that provide the platform of a dynamic MySQL cluster.
