Hope Motorcycle Rally Ride
Join the Orange County Indian Motorcycle Rider's Group this fall for an exhilarating ride to the Hope Motorcycle Rally in South Lake Tahoe, NV. Enjoy the mountain vistas, cool air, and pristine Lake Tahoe.
This is a four-night, five-day round-trip ride.
On the way there, we will stay in Nevada City on September 23.
During the Hope Rally which is from September 24-26 we will stay in South Lake Tahoe. We will leave from Tahoe on Sunday and go straight home from there.
Nevada City, California, is a fiery gold rush town in California’s Sierra foothills, luring you with its impeccably preserved Victorian streets, where historic buildings house quirky shops, buzzing bars, and top-notch restaurants that hum with character. Its eclectic vibe pulses through colorful art galleries, lively music venues, and a spirited scene that makes every night feel like a festival.
South Lake Tahoe, Nevada, is a thrilling high-country town perched on the sapphire edge of Lake Tahoe, luring motorcycle tourists for years with its legendary Sierra Nevada mountain roads that twist and climb through pine-scented passes, delivering sweeping vistas and that crisp, invigorating clean air every rider craves. Its vibrant night life pulses along the lakeshore with lively casinos, craft breweries, and welcoming diners. Meanwhile, the surrounding Sierra peaks beckon with epic routes like the 89 loop or Echo Summit, where every curve rewards you with fresh asphalt, towering granite walls, and the pure freedom of riding at elevation under endless blue skies.
We will leave the shop on Wednesday morning and return on Sunday for a five-day, four-night ride.

Itinerary
Wednesday morning, we will leave at daybreak since we have an 11-hour day ahead of us. We'll stay that night in Nevada City. On Thursday, we will ride back country roads and Hwy 49 over Yuba Pass, then up to the high Sierra Gold Lake for picnic lunch and on to South Lake Tahoe, NV. We will attend the Hope Motorcycle Rally (click link for tickets and details) from Thursday night to Saturday. On Sunday, we'll come home via US-395. Wednesday and Sunday will be a very long rides (500+mile days). This is a long-distance, endurance ride. Please make sure your bike and body are ready to make the trip. Hydrate and rest up.
Lodging
In Nevada City, we are all going to stay at the Northern Queen Inn. The rooms are very reasonable (~$100-150 per room, per night). In South Lake Tahoe, reserve your room for September 24-26 at the Golden Nugget using this link. Or call them at 1-844-588-7625 and mention code HOPE26. Note: the last day to make reservations is August 26, 2026. The hotel will sell out. Rooms range from $69-$250 and up per night.
Saturday night is the charity dinner (link here). Tickets sell out every year ($100 per person), so get them early when you book your room.We encourage everyone to combine sleeping arrangements with other riders, as this will make the limited accommodation more economical, efficient, and fun.
Bring layers on this trip. The travel days through the Central Valley will be warm to hot, but we are riding in the foothills and mountains at higher elevations, and the nights will be cool. It is typically dry this time of year, but the mountains are unpredictable so BRING RAIN GEAR just in case.
Skill Level: The route includes many high-country passes over two-lane, twisty roads. In addition, our first and last days are long - over 500 miles; as a result, this ride is for advanced level riders. Also this ride is for members only. We will ride about 1500 miles round-trip from the dealership.
Ride Command Link Note: you are encouraged to download these routes to your bike before the trip. However, routing may change at the discretion of the leaders and subject to road conditions on the days we ride.
This long-distance endurance ride is designed for experienced members in good health with motorcycles in optimal running condition. To ensure your motorcycle's condition, please schedule a Complimentary 35-Point Inspection at Indian Motorcycle of Orange County prior to the ride. Please schedule far enough ahead to allow for any work that may need to be done.
