Two roads diverged in a wood and I -
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference.

Orlando Bipolar Support
Founded March 13, 2006
Since 2006, this group has been recommended by many mental health professionals.
We have provided help to hundreds upon hundreds of people
in the Greater Orlando Area.
Our # 1 goal is to help others with bipolar illness learn to manage it to the best of their ability.
Some of the following information may sound rather boring but it's important. We want to let all of our prospective members know that we take bipolar illness (and other illnesses associated with it) very seriously. It most certainly does not mean group members or our meetings are boring. We are people just like anyone else. We have our own personalities and interests. We have fun getting to know each other. Many good friendships come as a result of being a member of the group. I’ve seen it happen; it's happened to me.
Good friends are hard to come by.
Attend a meeting and become a member.
At least you know we all have “something” in common!
The information on the left gives the impression we are a newly formed group; that is not the case. We averaged over 200 +/- Meetup members on any given day for 5 ½ years. I often went through the member list and "removed" people who no longer wished to participate. Many, to my delight, got the help they needed from the group and were able to "move on." This way, the listed number of members is not being misrepresented; it was and will continue to be as accurate as possible.
As you can see, we are a private group. You need to request to join. One of the most importantthings you need to know before asking to "join this group," is that you do NOT use Facebook or any other social networks on this site! We must respect the privacy of our members!
It is our policy to require potential members to attend a meeting before being approved on the Meetup.com site. This provides a great opportunity for you to be sure that Orlando Bipolar Support (OBS) is what you are looking for in a *"peer-to-peer" bipolar support group. In addition, you must read and understand the "About" page. It can be accessed by clicking on the "Pages" link above. It's a very important document and covers many of the questions that people have.
Our group runs entirely on donations that we collect at each meeting. We hope that those who can afford to donate more than a couple of dollars per meeting will realize they are in a position to help others who are financially less fortunate. There are numerous people for whom this group is the only way they can get support. They are unable to afford individual therapists or can only afford one on a limited schedule. If you unable to donate financially, please, please do not let an inability to donate EVER stop you from attending a meeting.
If you would like to donate online, please contact the Organizer for further information.
