Have you ever wondered if God exists?
Have you ever wonder if there is life after death?
Have you ever wonder if stories of miracles are true or just wives tales?
Have you ever wondered how your beliefs were shaped by what your parents taught you?
Then this book club is for you!

I grew up in a Christian home where my parents told me to believe in God. A series of tragic life events left me questioning if He was out there. Recently I wanted to settle that question on more objective reasons than what my parents believe or my emotional reaction to life events. I embarked to read up on the subject, vowing to give equal consideration to authors with opposing views on the subject.

Then we moved to Orlando and my wife looked into book clubs. Not finding anything as thought provoking as the above subjects, we decided to invite people to join us on our investigation of spiritual topics through a book club.

This book club is not affiliated with any church or denomination. There is no agenda beyond thought-provoking discussion. All views are welcome. Everyone is encouraged to articulate why they believe what they believe but anyone attempting to aggressively convert people to/from their own belief system may be asked to resign.

The group started with a strict point/counter-point format. For example:
The Case for Faith, Lee Strobel v. The Case Against Christianity, Michael Martin
In Defense of Miracles, Geivett & Habermas v. Looking for a Miracle, Joe Nickell

But now I pick books based on perceived interest from prior discussion.  For example, one month someone suggested Christ never existed which spurred a lot of discussion so we recently read "The Christ Files: How Historians Know What They Know About Jesus".

I also take recommendations from regular attenders.  This month's excellent book "The Question of God: C.S. Lewis and Sigmund Freud Debate God, Love, Sex, and the Meaning of Life" came from a group member's suggestion.

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
