The circular walk follows the river Medway, passing Upnor castle before returning inland. Upnor villiage is a charming riverside village. Upnor Castle is part of English Heritage site, it sets in tranquil grounds and a rare example of an Elizabethan artillery fort dating back 1559. The admission for the castle is £5.50; for anyone who is the member of EH, it's free to entry; however for anyone travel by southeastern train on the day, it's 2 for 1 entry (see www.visitkentoffers.co.uk/2-for-1-offers/offer/?id=32)

Bring picnic for lunch break near Upnor castle, pub drink at the end by the river.
