Decided to do this hike again since I need a workout!
Hike from the Greek Theatre to the Hollywood Sign (the LOOONG way) Griffith Park. We'll meet at 1 PM in front of the Greek Theatre. We'll leave at 1:15 PM.
Greek Theatre's address
2700 North Vermont Avenue
Los Angeles, California 90027
Hike is approx. 10 miles RT. It is 4 - 6 hours hike! It has 1,000 feet elevation gain. It is advanced hike. You will be tired after this hike since it is looong. We'll be coming back in the dark.
Bring 2-3 bottles (lots of water) of waters, a sweater (since we'll come back at night) and sneakers with good traction. Rain postpones the hike. I will make a water stop on the way.
No beginners or people out of shape!!!!!
Last time I did this hike, a member was complaining about getting blisters on her foot. May need to bring some mole skin for your shoes, extra pair of socks and/or bandaids for your feet.
If for some reason you get seperated from us, use the Observatory as your landmark. The Greek is right below it!
Hike will be changed if there is a concert at the Greek: http://www.greektheatrela.com/
Parking is always FREE when there isn't a concert there!

L.A. traffic was terrible. It took 1.5hrs to drive 30mi from Redondo Beach (thats average 20mph). I started the hike by myself 20mins behind the group and somehow found the way across Griffith Park. I was 0.5 mi from the Hollywood sign when I discovered that my camera had fallen out of my backpack along the way. I was really fond of that camera. It was a $300+ Canon waterproof/shock-proof camera that I had bought specifically to carry along on hikes. I had an empty sick feeling and was pretty p*ssed off at myself for loosing the camera. The only thing I could do was continue hiking up to the sign. At 100 yards from the sign, I saw Ed and the group coming down towards me. So I turned around at that point and joined up with the group. Up until then, I can't say it was one of the best days I've ever had. However it was a perfect day for a hike. The weather was super and the view from Griffith Park was as spectacular as I've ever seen it. I'm still gonna give this hike 5 stars. Thanks Ed.

I don't know if you were aware, but I had difficulty finding sweeps today on the hike. I have sweeps so I don't lose anyone. This is for YOUR benefit. This hike Meetup is about helping out. This Meetup isn't about coming to hikes and not helping out. If you don't want to help out, then please find another Meetup group to join.
This Meetup group isn't for you.

Still need a sweep (someone to stay in the back). I don't want to lose anyone. Any volunteers?

If someone gets seperated from us or decides to go back early, use the observatory as your landmark. The Greek Theatre is right below it. There is a trail right next to the observatory that will take you to the Greek.

Do we need to bring a flashlight since it will be dark at the end or is the trial well lit? Thx
