Ranger Station walk to Travel Town (lots of WWII history)

Details
Meet at 3 PM, but leave at 3:15 PM. Meet in front of the ranger station/ Visitor Center. See picture on left--that is our meeting spot.
We'll go on a 7-8 miles RT no elevation gain hike. Hike will be approx. 3 hours. Bring water and sneakers. We'll be walking on a path horses take. Please let them pass. Dogs must on a leash.
We're going to walk to Travel Town. It has lots of trains! During WWII it was a detention camp for Japanese and a POW camp (Germans, Italians & Japanese). http://www.usc.edu/libraries/archives/la/historic/japanese_camps.html
and http://encyclopedia.densho.org/Griffith%20Park%20(detention%20facility)/ . We'll walk by the LA Zoo. Where the LA Zoo is, used to house WWII veterans after the war. One cool thing about this walk is we saw several deer and quite a few rabbits last time.
Ranger Station is by merry-go-round. There's a stop sign where it is. The Mapquest directions may take you too far.
If for some reason you get seperated from us, Ranger Station Tele. # Phone: (323) 913-4688.
