Join us on an amazing 7 mile 1100 gain hike in the Western Santa Monica Mountains from La Jolla Canyon to Mugu Peak. From Magu peak you will experience a fantastic ocean view. On this stroll you will find yourself in an expansive lush green meadow and experience a great ocean view. Phenomenal flower blooms in the spring, strong sun in the summer, and a small spring and small waterfall (sometimes)), the main attraction are large swaths of native California grassland — some of the last remaining unspoiled areas in the state and the great view of course.Meet at 9:00 AM at the Malibu Carpool point.(You can also meet us at the La Jolla Canyon/Ray Miller Trailhead at 9:30 - a few miles North of Leo Carillo State Beach. Please bring a minimum of 2 quarts of water and lunch, hiking shoes or boots are required.

Trail Head:
To get to Ray Miller Trailhead: drive west on the Pacific Coast Highway, 22 miles North of Malibu Canyon Road to La Jolla Canyon (Ray Miller Trailhead)- just a couple of miles north of Leo Cariillo State Beach – just past Sycamore Canyon. Those coming from the Ventura area, will find it 4 miles beyond Las Posas Road . It is located across the highway from the western end of Thornhill BroomStateBeach. A fee is charged for parking, but you can park on the highway at the Park entrance and walk in. Also – Just look for the Sign Labeled La Jolla Canyon.
