Hike to Beacon Hill in Griffith Park

Meet at 1 PM, but leave 1 :15 PM. Meet in front of the Greek Theatre. This hike is approx. 4 miles RT and 600 feet gain. Hike should be under 2 hours. Bring 1-2 quarts of water. Shoes with good traction will do.

We will hike to Beacon Hill. It used to be a beacon for Glendale Airport.

"Beacon Hill is the easternmost hill of the 50-mile long Santa Monica Mountain Range. An illuminated beacon once resided on the top of Beacon Hill, warning aircraft of the mountains next to the Glendale Grand Central Airport, the main airport for Los Angeles and Hollywood during the 1910s and the 1920s. From Beacon Hill you can see it all -- from the ocean to the mountains and everything in between."

This is a easy-moderate hike (a 4 out of 10).

Dogs ok as long as they are on a leash.

Public Transportation:

Take the 180-181 bus and get off at Los Feliz Blvd. & Vermont. Walk up Vermont. It is a short walk.
