Short Hike to the Observatory

Hike in Griffith Park
Hike to the Observatory.

We will go on a 3 miles hike round trip. This is a short hike.  It has 800 feet elevation gain. We will walk by Ferndell! It is a pretty spot with trees and streams! Meet at 10:00 AM but leave at 10:15 AM by the corner of Fern Dell Dr. and Los Feliz Blvd. Map for meeting location. Look at where the map says Los Feliz Blvd and Ferndell meet. Meet in front of the bear. Hike will last approx. 2 hours or less. Bring water with shoes with good traction. Sneakers are ok. We may make a short stop (30-40 minutes) at the observatory to get something to eat/drink or to explore. If u want to stay longer, remember your way back. If u decide to come back later, make sure u get back before sunset (around 6 PM) because of parking restrictions. If you want to stay and come back after dark, park south of Los Feliz Blvd. because of parking restrictions.

Metro (subway):

Get off at Western & Hollywood station and walk up to meeting spot. Short walk.

Because this hike is short doesn't make it easy. It is a moderate hike. There is 1 steep part. Most people can do it. Don't recommend this hike for out of shape people.
