Monthly Meeting - Johnny Foley's SF

This will be a recurring monthly event on the 2nd Saturday of each month.  Lets all get together and catch up, talk about things we've been doing or are interested in.

Folks are encouraged to set up smaller events before or after to get out and do something before or after with members of the group.

This location has worked well for us, so I figure we'll stick with it.  There is a $5 event requested donation ,which I will pay to the venue.  I'm not making $$ off this, just want to be sure we have a good space and the server gets a decent tip.

This will be a social event for us to all meet each other.  I have some ideas on how to kick-start this a little, which I will send out before the event.  A few of the things we'll do are:

a) wear nametags, so we know who in the place is with the group and who isn't

b) wear some "flare" (we're over 40, right, remember flare?), that represents things you'd enjoy talking about.  Into travel? - how about an airplane?  Like jazz? - a saxophone.  Etc. Can be an actual pin or button, clip art or drawn on a 3x5 card, just something to help us all get the conversation flowing

I want this to be a fun, casual event for everyone.

I apologize in advance if this venue isn't the ideal environment for some people's taste or preferences.  "Surprisingly", it is hard to find a cafe or a coffee shop to camp out for 2-3 hours on a Saturday when the group could be[masked] people.

Please let me know if you have any ideas, suggestions or questions.  Look forward to meeting everyone.

Please use the following discussion thread to discuss ridesharing, which is encouraged. That way, not everyone signed up gets an email as people try and coordinate.  If you are coming from somewhere outside SF and can offer a ride, you are encouraged to check this thread.

If you are getting a lot of email as people RSVP, you can turn this off under "Email Preferences" under My Profile at the top of the group page.  I can't turn this off group-wide.

This sounds like a lot of fun. Glad my friend pointed me in this direction.. looking forward to going. I am assuming it is walking distance from most muni stops downtown? I live in the Outer Richmond...

I am new to the US and not yet used to the fact there seems to be not much provision for parking in the City. Is there anywhere to park near the meeting place or should I learn the public transport system?

There is parking downtown, several options very near, and 5th&Mission garage is within walking distance. BART and Muni are also very close. Send me a note if you need some help getting oriented.

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
