For anyone wanting a shorter walk than Appleton to Cricklade....
Meet at the Tunnel House Inn, nr Cirencester. The inn is located next to the former Thames and Severn Canal and at the mouth of one of the longest cannal tunnels in the UK. We shall walk along the canal to the Source of the Thames (about 20mins walk each way) and then return to the pub for lunch.
After lunch there is a short drive to the Village of Sapperton where we shall rejoin the canal for a walk round The Golden Valley - a beautiful area of woodland inbetween Cirencester and Stroud and hopefully we will catch some brilliant autumn colours
There are a few steep hills on the walk and it could be muddy underfoot (if this spell of dry weather comes to a sudden end).
Let me know if you would like to come but need a lift - there is plenty of parking at the pub but limited in Sapperton.
Update: was in the Cotswolds at the weekend and the majority of trees are just begining to turn so the colours should be really good in a couple of weeks. Will try and arrange car sharing once the numbers are in
