Come share ideas, techniques, and resources for how psychotherapists can help people enhance their intimate relationships. This group is for mental health professionals and anyone else who relishes enthusiastic in-depth discussions of clinical theory and practice.

Each meeting includes a presentation. We socialize, eat, enjoy the presentation, then discuss the topic and anything else related to psychotherapy and intimate relationships.

Past topics:

  • What predicts divorce?
  • A brief history of couples therapy
  • Three kinds of love: infatuation, lust, and long-term bonding
  • Attachment theory and attachment therapy
  • Effective ways to conceptualize abuse

Future topics:

  • Passion in long-term relationships: Why does it fade, and how can it be rekindled?
  • Training the perfect partner: Behavior modification in relationships
  • Working with mixed relationships: straight/gay, mono/poly, sexual/asexual, vanilla/kinky
  • The first three floors of Gottman's Sound Relationship House
  • Using relationship therapy to treat "individual" problems such as depression and alcoholism
  • Pornography and relationships
  • Modifying techniques from couples therapy to work with relationships of three or more

You're invited to contribute: suggest compelling topics, help facilitate a meeting, post useful links. Join us as we build a supportive community!

Note: This group respects all forms of consensual intimate relationships.
