What Do You Mean You've Never Played... Arkham Horror, 2nd meetup

  • May 25, 2013 · 1:00 PM
  • This location is shown only to members

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE read this carefully before signing up:

You know when you are playing with a group of people and some of you start discussing one of those games you just assume everyone has played and someone at the table has never played it or (gasp!) never even heard of it? And then you are all "How can you NOT have played...?"

This is the "What Do You Mean You've Never Played..." series.

Now the idea here is for players who have actually NEVER played the game to sign up, not just anyone who loves the game and wants play it again. Sign-up slots should be reserved for those people who haven't played. The host should know the game and be willing to teach others. It should be planned on it taking time and patience while everyone learns, and this ideally will be a nice way for newbs to learn the game in a more casual atmosphere without the vets harrumphing because they are having to wait for someone to finish their turn.

This is my second admission to the "What Do You Mean You've Never Played..." series. This will be a completely separate game session from the 1st Arkham Horror one - NOT the second half of it. This date is for new players who did not sign up for the first session. Please read the details there for clarification.

I had a great time. Arkham Horror is pretty complex, but Steven is a great teacher, and I had a lot of fun.

I agree. I wasn't too sure if I liked the game (I may need another try to make that assessment) but kudos to Steven!

HI all. Just a reminder that the meetup tomorrow starts at 1:00. Since the idea behind the "What do you mean you've never played..." meetups is to teach players new to the game, its important that you arrive on time so i don't have to repeat the rules multiple times. Also, many elements of Arkham are dependant on how many players there are, so people will not be able to join after we have started.

My intention is to go over that rules and start the game by 1:30. Feel free to bring food and munchies. See you tomorrow

Sounds good; I downloaded a pdf of the Arkham Horror rules from the Fantasy Flight website and have been reading them this week; a quick perusal is better than nothing, eh? Also, I'm bringing my 20 yo son instead of my wife; he's an experienced gamer and has actually played AH a time or two before. See y'all in a bit!
