What do german tanks, your birthday and the speed of light have to do with our daily development work? It turns out, quite a lot!

During this presentation, Joshua Thijssen (https://twitter.com/JayTaph), author of the php[architect] book "Mastering the SPL", will explain a series of mathematical theorems and paradoxes that we encounter every day during development, but we often fail to recognize. By using these theorems, we can create better code, find more secure and efficient solutions to our problems, and it even helps you out communicating with clients and project owners.

This is an avant-premiere of the talk going to be presented on DrupalCon 2016 in New Orleans (https://events.drupal.org/neworleans2016/sessions/4-releases-year-4-releases-day) next May.

This session presents a case study where the delivery process for a large government web platform was dramatically improved by automating as much as possible.
When the European Commission adopted Drupal for their internal websites, this project grew organically from a single site to a large Drupal 7 distribution running over 70 websites, developed by a team of 200 developers from 28 different countries.
As the project grew the legacy workflow processes that were in use became unmaintainable. This session will show how Frédéric Dewinne ( (https://twitter.com/fdewinne)ContinuousPHP (https://twitter.com/continuousphp)) and Pieter Frenssen (https://twitter.com/pfrenssen) moved from a largely manual process to fully automated continuous deployment.
