DETAILS
The evening will start out with a meet and greet as people arrive. Bitcoin meetups can be a great place to meet people interested in buying or selling bitcoin. We aren't sponsoring any sales but buyers or sellers are welcome to make an announcement.
After everyone has a chance to introduce themselves to each other we'll kick off with a short presentation (15min) about the value and importance of Bitcoin. (If you'd like to see a longer version of this presentation, check out this presentation we gave at Linuxfest: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UyF6NeGXOgo )
We'll open up the floor for an audience Q&A about Bitcoin basics so everyone has a decent understanding of what it is and why it's awesome.
Next a few people who are involved with Bitcoin related projects will tell us a bit about their background and show us what they're working on.
For the second half of the evening we'll have panel discussion of Bitcoin founders and experts from Bellingham and Vancouver, moderated by Dan Purdy. Next, a panel discussion will address the question, "What does bitcoin bring to local economies?" An audience Q&A with the panel will round out the presentation part of the meetup.
For the rest of the evening we'll have open networking and help get people who are new to Bitcoin set up with their own wallet and a little bit of Bitcoin to play with. This will be a perfect time to broaden the topics to anything bitcoin-related such as decentralized systems, government regulation of digital currency, or interesting projects such as ethereum. The panel will wrap up about 8:00pm, but people are welcome to hang out later and keep the discussions rolling.
If you're interested in speaking or presenting at this meetup please let us know!
