Meetup Description: We have documented proof that Sierra Fish & Pets in Bellevue acquires their dogs from mass breeding facilities, where dogs are farmed under the juridiction of the US Department of Agriculture. The primary objective is to maximize profits for these breeding facilities (also known as puppy mills), the brokers whom work as go-betweens with the breeders and pet stores, and the pet stores themselves.

This is BIG money. Animal Planet states this is now a one billion dollar industry in the US and the number of puppy mills in the US have doubled in the last year! Sierra Fish & Pets can tell you that they guarantee they don't get their puppies from puppy mills because they use brokers as go-betweens to acquire the dogs. It's the same thing, and keeping customers confused has worked for pet stores like this one for decades. Only the mass breeding, inhumane and brutal puppy mills can fulfill their demand for all of these puppies! "Responsible breeders" would never sell their dogs to pet stores for resale, and it is actually consumer fraud!

We will be there until this store quits selling puppies. People are getting rich off the inhumane treatment of these dogs, especially the breeding parents, and they don't like our interference and determination to stop them.

We are nonconfrontive with the public. We don't show gruesome pictures of puppy mills, many of them can be quite clean as a matter of fact, nevertheless they are puppy mills or "mass breeding facilities." They are places where breeding dogs live their entire lives in wire cages with no human contact, vet care or protection from the elements. We realize there are countless puppy mill stores in Washington state but we have chosen to mimic a number of other very successful campaigns going on all over the country, particularly in Los Angeles, targeting one store at a time.

If you love your dog, if you believe that animals have the right to be treated humanely, we need you to stand with us.

“I think everything about puppy mills is disgusting. Animals shouldn't be kept in deplorable conditions for someone to just make a profit. Those kind of people probably don't even like animals - no one with any kind of heart would make dogs suffer.”
