What: Shakyamuni Buddha Birthday Cultivation Day on Friday, May 21, 2010

When: Friday, May 21,[masked]:00 AM

Where: (A location has not been chosen yet.)

Shakyamuni Buddha Birthday Cultivation at 10:00 a.m. on Friday:

Over 2550 years ago, the child who would become the historical Buddha first set foot on this earth.

Join us as we celebrate his birth with a day of offering the traditional Bathing Buddha Ceremony, an Animal Liberation Ceremony saving lives, extensive offerings and prayers. We will be led by our precious Lama, Namnang Mingjo Dorje Rinpoche.

The first part of the day, from 10:00 a.m. to about 12:30 p.m. will be at our Dharma Center in San Jose, You will feel like you just entered a Pure Land when you arrive! Mingjo Dorje Rinpoche will bring his holy Buddha relics to our Dharma Center. It is said that viewing holy relics inspires us to develop our own hearts and minds, to develop loving-kindness and compassion and to understand spiritual teachings. We will also be offering prayers and each of us will have the opportunity to offer a bath to the Buddha.

We will take a lunch break and then we will meet at 3:30 p.m at a private residence in Sunnyvale to do an Animal Release or Liberation Ceremony. "In terms of creating good karma, Buddhism teaches that nothing surpasses saving the life of a being facing imminent death".

We will also be reciting the "Dhammapada", which were verses spoken by Shakyamuni Buddha on various occasions. Time permitting we may be receiving a lovely surprise.

So please, come join on us Friday for as little or as long as you wish. We would love to have you stop by and join us in this very happy day.

This is a very powerful and auspicious day for creating good imprints in your mind with the positive potential of any actions performed on this day being multiplied many hundreds of thousands of times.

Everyone welcome to attend including families.
