Hike at Harriman State Park - Bear Mountain
Details
Weather permitting. Fall is a great time to get out and see the changing landscape. Come join in on a moderate hike to a scenic vista atop Bear Mountain trails. The hike is approximately 2 miles up hill and usually takes about 2 hours to traverse at a medium pace. It's a perfect event to allow the stresses of life to dissipate for the day. Please know your limits and only join us if you're sure you're physically capable. On a scale of 1 to 10 this hike is about a 5. It's a leisurely uphill stroll through the mountainside. Feel free to bring your children if you think they will enjoy it and are capable of making it. My 11 and 9 year old kids made this hike with a little effort and some coaxing. It's great to get the kids outdoors and away from the TV and games. Don't let that little voice in your head talk you out of a great experience that you will benefit from physically, mentally and spiritually.
Once we reach the top I will be sharing a few centering techniques that can help you relieve stress from your daily routine. I will share a short meditation I call The Peaceful Present, introduce you to Shaolin breathing, Hapkido breathing and some helpful sleeping practices.
I recommend you bring water and some snacks for the journey. A light backpack, hiking boots and proper attire for the weather is also recommended.
Please note that if you decide to join in you do so at your own risk. This group, it's organizers and any other participants shall be held harmless for any injuries, or experiences you might encounter. Parents please be responsible for your children and be sure their safety and well being is your sole responsibility.
I will confirm your participation as the 23rd approaches. I’m also making this event known to other groups I attend, so depending on the turnout we may have a chance to meet some new people.
Hope to see everyone there. Please contact me with any questions or concerns. Thank you, George.
