International Startupers and Techies!
It’s that time again. Be sure to block off Monday, 10 June 2013 on your calendars for one of our biggest and coolest events co-organized in partnership with Moonbar.org (http://moonbar.org/)*!
With the help of, Mailjet.com (http://www.mailjet.com/), Paymill.com (https://paymill.com/fr-fr/) and Google.fr (https://www.google.fr/intl/fr/about/)*, we are thrilled and honored to bring to the stage three great international success stories and an American VC:
Tim Chang (http://www.mayfield.com/team/all/Tim_Chang), Managing Director of Mayfield Fund (http://www.mayfield.com/), is a proven venture investor (Silicon Valley) and experienced global executive, known for his thought leadership in Gamification, Quantified Self, and Behavioral/Social Science-led Design. He has been named to the Forbes Midas List of Top 100 Tech Investors, as one of CNET’s 12 Most Influential Tech Investors and as a Power Player West, Digital Media and Mobile Power Player by Always On. Tim invests in the mobile, social, adtech, and health 2.0 themes.
Céline Lazorthes (https://twitter.com/CelineLz), the CEO of Leetchi (http://www.leetchi.com/) will talk about its series B funding round and its expansion to the UK and German markets. Leetchi has experienced a 25% growth month on month with a 10x increase in the amount of money handled via the platform between 2010 and 2011. Leetchi’s API is also now being used by Ulule, skimm and octoo among others.
Frédéric Mazzella (https://twitter.com/mazaic), the CEO of Blablacar (http://www.blablacar.com/) (formerly known as covoiturage.fr (http://covoiturage.fr/)) will not only touch upon the collaborative economy and how his company has managed to sign up over 3M users but also why they changed the name of the company last year. Hint: it has something to do with International :)
James Parton (https://twitter.com/jamesparton), the Director of Twilio (http://www.twilio.com/) Europe, was the 1st full time hire outside of the US for Twilio and will talk about how Twilio is shaking up the telecom industry through its APIs as well as the startup scene through its Twilio Europe Fund. Heck, you might also even see a demo on how to set up a phone line in a web application in just over a couple minutes :)
For the first time ever, we will also allow 5 lucky meetup members to each give a 60 sec elevator pitch on June 10th. So, if you’re looking for validation from the crowd or for co-founders or other team members in general or just want to test your pitching skills, please send to pitch@moonbar.org by Midnight June 7th (Maximum 5 sentences) a description about your company/startup and why we should select you to pitch on stage :). On June 8th, we will select the top 5 entries to compete on June 10th. Our esteemed guest panel will be the judge of the top 3. And yes, there will be prizes for top pitches!
