Hello All:
This is Grumpy (Star’s husband); there is another traditional Memorial Day Remembrance Service that we plan on attending. This run is hosted by the Defenders Law Enforcement MC and ends at Bushnell National Cemetery where they host the biggest Memorial Day Ceremony in the state. We went to this last year and were surprised at the number of attendees.
Let’s meet at the Racetrac gas station on located on Bearss Ave just east of Florida Ave (near I-275) at 8:00 am. We will have a KSU at 8:30 am (no later) and follow I-275 north to the Rest Area. That way we will be able to arrive, park and ride to Bushnell Cemetery as a group. Once we are there we can enjoy the Ceremony which starts at 11:00 am; please do not forget to bring something to sit on and drink.
Once the Ceremony is over (around 12:00 pm or noon), we will ride back south on I-275 and take the HWY 54 exit and follow it east toward Land-O-Lakes. We will cross HWY 41 through to Odessa to AMVETS Post 9 (Black lake Road where we started the April 6th Home for our Troops escort) - we should be at AMVETS Post 9 around 1:30 pm (+/-). There we can meet anyone of our Riders that did not make the Ceremony at but still wants to go to Tarpon Springs for the Sand Soldiers Charity event. We can eat something at AMVETS Post 9 or wait until we get to Tarpon Springs, the group decides.
It should be a great Memorial Day and you can be happy and feel good about yourself that you participated in two Veteran Remembrance events that day (that is what you are supposed to do as Patriotic Americans).
