LongBoat Key & Celery Fields Ride

Southern Saturday (Second Attempt)

On this Saturday, we will combine two Finz Finds rides into one for a glorious day of Southern joy riding!

For those of you coming from a northern starting point, you may meet at Star’s house around 8:00 a.m. with an 8:15 a.m. KSU.  (This is near Hillsborough and I-275 in Tampa, email Star for address if needed!)  We will pick up I-275 South to Skyway Jacks for a quick breakfast.

For the rest of you Road Warriors (Pinellas Patriotic Riders), we can meet at Skyway Jacks around 9 a.m., with KSU of 9:30 a.m.  Skyway Jacks is located at -  [masked]th St S, St Petersburg, FL 33711

As you might guess from the name, Skyway Jacks is a perfect spot to head out and get our heart pumping with a ride over the skyway bridge!  We will continue on I-275 to exit #5 where we will pick up US HWY 19 South, and start on to the first leg of the ride, the “Longboat Key” ride! This is a 20 mile stretch of road (no stop lights) that will present a half hour of waterside, and tropical bliss. For those of you that have not ridden this ride, check out the video - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EAtpmvsFc9Q

The Longboat Key ride ends on Fruitville Rd in Sarasota, where we will take our first short break for Gas bathroom and beverage before continuing on the next leg - the “Celery Fields” ride.  For those of you that need a sneak peak at the Celery Fields - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ueAQuasqaHg. Our break will be at Rossiters Harley Davidson where we will register for the Freedom Ride.  We will travel 11 miles south to see Patriot Plaza in the National Cemetery. Then travel north to the Celery Fields.

The Celery Fields ride is a curvy quiet route covering some of the most scenic roads in Sarasota.  As you might guess by the name we will also ride by some Florida’s Celery fields!  This will be our second short break. There is a parking area off Palmer Rd at the Audubon site, we will stay a few minutes (or as long as the group decides and take in the harmony and beauty of the area. The entire Celery Fields ride will take just over an hour to cover these back roads (not including our break), and then we will head north to for a our third stop at Woody’s River Roo, (http://woodysriverroo.com/)  in Ellenton for a casual, fun waterside lunch.  After lunch, we will take HWY 41 north and head back home. Plan is to be back in Tampa around 3:00 p.m. This will be a 160 mile total ride.

I look forward to seeing those of you that can make the ride. Grumpy

Although I held out hope for a ride, it looks like the odds are against us having weather favorable enough to go joy riding this morning. :( We are rescheduling the ride for July 5th - hopefully weather will be better that day!

Star, please verify that the ride is still on this morning, at your convenience, since a few of the confirmed have changed their minds. Thanks!

gotta' go with the flow, don't deliberately ride in severe weather like we been experiencing these past few mornings and predicted same for Saturday, but, if by chance, a drastic change in the forecast occurs, I'll ride, otherwise, count me out on this one.

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
