MOFGA Seed Swap & Scion Exchange

Check with Galen about carpooling or get another car started.

From MOFGA website:

There is no admission charge though donations are always welcome and benefit our Heritage Orchard.
The Maine Tree Crop Alliance, the Maine Seed Saving Network, Fedco and the Maine Organic Farmers and Gardeners Association will host the twelfth annual combined Seed Swap and Scionwood Exchange, in MOFGA’s Common Ground Exhibition Hall in Unity. For gardeners and orchardists, it’s like the most wonderful flea market in the world. Not only that but most of the best stuff is free!

Please bring any seeds, scionwood, or cuttings you have to share freely with others. Don't have seeds to contribute? Bring some baked goods instead! The day is all about learning and sharing from your neighbors. Last year we gave away scionwood from well over 100 fruit varieties. These contributions are what make the day a success. We’ll supply the labels, tape and markers. On sale will be T-shirts, books, grafting supplies and rootstock.

It starts at 9am. It usually takes me around 70 minutes. I can swing by Terrell and load up my vehicle with anyone who needs a ride, to leave around 7:50am.

I seem to think that the last few years it has been 10 to 2, I try to get there around 10 and by 10:15 the place fills up pretty good. This year 9 to 4:30? Good topics. Previously they would do two classrooms, one on grafting the other upstairs on a variety of topics. This year's line-up of speakers looks good.

I got a message from 'Stacey Bourdeau', a Meetup member of 'Penobscot Valley Permaculture'. She is in Detroit and seeking a ride to Unity [Detroit is between Bangor and Unity]. As we approach 24March lets keep her in mind if anyone has room in their vehicle. :)

For gardeners too! You can focus on the seed swap, but you could also learn more about grafting just by being around all these great, informed folks.
