Come hear funny and sometimes terrifying war stories about operating Hadoop at scale in production -- rogue user jobs that took over the cluster, tasks that suddenly stopped completing and disks that thrashed for days. There will be free drinks and food, and a chance to win an iPad mini.
We’ll be hosting a panel discussion with distinguished Hadoop veterans such as Allen Wittenauer (Apache Hadoop committer at Altiscale), Adam Faris (LinkedIn), and Todd Nemet (Looker and Cloudera). They’ll share their war stories and what they learned and our CEO Sean Suchter will moderate the panel.

Pepperdata was founded by former Yahoo and Microsoft executives Sean Suchter and Chad Carson, who bring real-world experience as the first users of large commercial Hadoop clusters at Yahoo, and then used large-scale, high-velocity data at Microsoft to join social data from Facebook and Twitter with Bing web search. We recommend taking Muni to the Van Ness Station, or BART to the Civic Center Station. Both stations are just a few minutes walk from Square.
Square offers on-site bike parking for visitors. Enter with your bike through Gate 22, on 11th Street between Market Street and Mission Street. From Gate 22, follow the green path up the ramp to the guest bike parking cage. The lobby entrance is to the left of the ramp, in the north corner of the lot.
We recommend parking in the Civic Center Plaza Garage. It’s located at 355 McAllister Street, between Polk and Larkin, and offers hourly parking at the driver’s expense.
