Actions speak louder with words!

Hello all!

This group has been designed with hopes of bringing together a number of poets who wish to perform their pieces of mastery live and out aloud! I have been writing sporadically for the last year, with a lot of my interest being focused on short stories, poetry and the odd bit of script writing. However, I’ve become slightly bemused by the vast number of tacky short story/poetry competitions floating about, mainly due to their sole aim being to take peoples cash! And so, with the occurence of a brainwave, it made logical sense for me to gather together similarly frustrated poets/writers/expressionists in one place, here!

The group itself has not got a singular objective; I would like it to be a pool of ideas for people to delve into and an area where we can share our creative thoughts. Nevertheless, it is my hope to assimilate a number of confident, slightly eccentric (!) individuals who have a similar passion to mine, which is to express their work in public. This in many ways brings me towards the crux of this group. I believe, hope, and may even dream that with a collective effort, of similarly driven people, we can help each other achieve something with the written word. I reside in Coventry (urrgh), but I feel that the heartbeat truly lies in London. There’s a whole lot of expressive opportunity to be grasped in our big apple!

If the proverbial ball really does start rolling with this group then it would be excellent if we could have regular critical analyses of our work and jovial “meetups” to drive us on towards creative infinity! A lot of the aims of this group may sound a tad bit open ended, but i think a sense of direction will be achieved when people air their desires and needs for what they want from each other. Initially, i would like to focus our first few meetups towards performing our poetry , and how we can improve the nature of what we're trying to express. I DO want very passionate people to join this group. In that sense i'm hoping that prospective members are pursuing this path because they have something strong to express, and are not afraid to express these ideas. I really do feel that dreams and goals can only be achieved if people show a bit of passion and drive!

I await the gathering of some inspirational urban warriors!
