Many perfumes that are ‘sweet’ don’t have much to do with the smell of vanilla at all – what you may have smelled was an overdose of ethyl maltol. Vanilla is an ingredient with more sides than you may think -be it smoky, earthy, rich or light, boozy or custardy – the possibilities are many. Neil has a wide knowledge of vanilla perfumes and will also be sharing with us his experiences of visiting a vanilla farm.
