Lavender and White

Details

Just right for a long summer's day. A two part meetup we'll move between two adjacent venues. Landscapes and the possibility of concept thrown in.

I've been looking through the options for a visit to do photography in a Lavender farm. Having contacted the more obvious places nearby, I decided to look away from suburbia and have spoken to a lady in Hampshire who was so helpful and welcoming that the venue gets my vote. The distance maybe that little bit more but the route to the farm will be quicker than braving traffic. To make it worth while for everyone there is a second venue nearby, Gilbert White's house with awesome gardens.

Part 1: Meet at Glibert White's House.

'The Natural History and Antiquities of Selborne' was written by Gilbert White and from it's publishing date in 1789 has never been out of print. Father of Ecology or Parson-naturalist, Gilbert's works were penned from his observations as he passionately created his gardens in Selborne.

The house is full of contemporary and original family furnishings and original manuscript of my bible, opps... I should have said his book.

In the garden there are stunning views, magical features and wonderful recreations of his 18th century plantings.

We can either have a leisurely picnic or pub lunch... votes please.

Part 2: Lavender Fields

The Lavender fields are only a mile and a half away. They have an open day so we can take advantage of all that they have on offer for the crowds and, subject to confirmation, will be able to stay around after closure to take photographs as the sun comes down, without your versions of Photoshop burning out to eliminate random tourists. As an extra bonus there will be magnificent flower meadows growing beside the rows of Lavender.

Bring along a dress or prop for the photos. Creative concepts are welcome, as long as we do no damage. I know I don't need to write this but, please, remember that the Lavender is an income crop and has to be respected as such.

Bring your camera phone, point and shoot, DSLR or any other means to get a good photo. The colours will be vivid, the scenery outstanding and be prepared to snap the bees and butterflies that will abound. If you have a variety of lenses, I suggest it might be worth lugging them around.... and don't forget a prop. Once again the venue would love to see our pics, please share them.

If you prefer to go straight to the Lavender Fields you could go a little earlier and wait for the rest. On offer: Visit the lavender fields and wild flowers, Mini lavender tours,Ploughmans lunches and Cream teas, Tractor trailer rides, Chocolate making demonstrations, Rural Crafts

Car sharing is great. I'll update specific location and times before the end of June. Email me if you'd like a lift from Guildford.
