Entrepreneur Speaker - Eric Silver

Eric Silver is the founder of WebKite, the only content management platform that publishes data-sets for decision-making.  Eric has experience in many roles within the startup ecosystem as the first developer for WebKite, an active angel investor and principal with Alt-Capital, former CMO for ModCloth, business development volunteer with the Peace Corps, and strategy consulting experience to the Fortune 500 as a consultant with McKinsey and Deloitte.  Eric has spoken at Startup Weekend, taught classes on decision-making at Pitt and CMU, lectured on startup valuation for technologists, and has served on the board of Shoefitr and RentJungle.  Eric is passionate about start-ups, decision-making, and the Pittsburgh startup ecosystem.

Eric will be presenting several mini-talks that provide a fantastic breadth of information for anyone living in - or interested in - the startup world.  A sampling of topics he'll cover is below, but he'll also be asking the audience for recommendations.  If you have topics you'd like to hear about, you can submit in advance to [masked].

  • The limitations of advice for startup founders
  • The importance of choosing the right industry - not the right business
  • Finding first funders & developers
  • Valuing startups

I could experience quite bit different points of view. I, who is a normal slacking engineer, realized that an entrepreneur who may have up and down has many interesting events. It was fun and informative. Thank Eric.

And Speaking of story telling, Joe posted this on linkedIn.

This article is about software developers but it highlights a point that Rick mentioned last night. "Know your audience and tell a story that is specific to them"
