Software Trainers/Instructional Designers

I am interested in connecting with anyone that has experience as a Software Trainer or Instructional Designer. My background is in Education, however I worked as an Instructional Technologist for several years through a grant called Classrooms for the Future. I taught classroom teachers various types of software and technology, and mentored them on how to effectively integrate it into the curriculum.

Unfortunately, the grant funding died last year, and I've been on unemployment ever since. I'd like to branch out into either Software Training or Instructional Design, and would appreciate hearing from those in the field. I would particularly like to know if there is any type of certification that I need for these positions. I'm used to operating in the K-12 world where certification is everything.

Thank you in advance to everyone that responds to this!
