This group is for those of us who follow a strict gluten-free diet - because we need it to stay healthy and well. The good news is that being gluten-free is getting easier all the time. There are more ready-made products in the stores, and more and more restaurants are offering gluten-free choices. The bad news is that parties remain one of the greatest challenges for those with Celiac.  The fear of not knowing exactly what a dish contains makes most of us shy away from eating something "just in case."

That is where this group come in; as a place to come together with others who understand exactly what life is like when you have diet challenges. We try to have a variety of events to suit as many tastes as we can, but we are primarily a potluck group: friends coming together to share food and ideas. And because most of the group is Celiac (although that is not a requirement), we do require our events to be strictly gluten-free. While some here love to cook and bake, that also is not a requirement, as purchased gluten-free products are also welcome at the events. We know some members prefer to shop rather than bake, and beverages are always appreciated. We understand that life gets busy.

Check our list of upcoming meet-ups and RSVP as you can. Even if your response is "No" it is helpful to the organizers so that we can accurately plan the parties. Again, Welcome to Philadelphia Gluten-Free Potlucks!

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
