Always an interesting collection of ideas in this group. I enjoy the diversity and interaction here. Leon's presentation and ideas were a great intro to a new sensor project. And the long running robotic dog project always has an interesting update. Lets get more robotics companies involved in this group and the universities working in this area - Drexel, U of Penn, others? I can talk with some contacts at Drexel to see if they can host and present at a future meeting in their eXCite lab.

Sounds good, Fran. I do have a contact at U Penn (we went there a few years ago to see Daniel Mellinger's quadrotors in action). Penn State Abington has a small robot program whose competitions are open to the public (trinity firefighting, mini grand challenge, etc. They also reach out to younger students). Our group has been to a few of these contests, but it was many years ago.

My wife and I have been trying to be more green and to that end purchased two 50-gallon rain barrels to water her vegetable and flower gardens and lawn when necessary. The problem and expenses started when I started trying to make them (a) easy for her to use, (b) hook them up to an automated watering system for when we are away, and (c) discovery that there are no reasonable off the shelf solutions. I'd be happy to give a presentation on the issues, the pros and cons to various solutions, as well as the distributed automation solution I created - the same system I'm thinking of organizing as a KickStarter project.

I have had two 50-gallon rain barrels for many, many years. They have been on my project list so I would be interested in your ideas.
