Roar Down a Alpine Coaster and summit for fall foliage- SOLD OUT

Details

The first Alpine Coaster event was so popular, we had to add a second. So, if you missed out, act fast so you do not miss out again. If you loved the first one, you can come again. We are doing a different hike this time around to mix things up.

This time around we will be summiting the mountain at Big Pocono State Park. It is projected to be the peak of fall foliage season this year, so I could not resist a hike with such sweeping vistas. Our guidebook says, "Tremendous views await the hiker from the top of Camelback Mountain. From an elevation of 2,132', you have a fine view of the plateau to the north, the Delaware Water Gap to the southeast, and High Point, NJ, to the northeast. The Catskill Mountains of New York lie 84 miles to the northeast and are visible on a very clear day.

The first time I was here I stumbled upon a flock of 17 wild turkeys as well as some deer. On one of our many scouting trips here, we were able to get a look a a secret map from one of the rangers that shows trails and an entrance that they no longer tell most visitors about. I love this back entrance because it allows us to start from the bottom and earn our vista. Of course, that means there is a good heart pounding climb involved, including a total elevation gain of more than 1,500 feet. So, this hike is not for the faint of heart.

After the hike we will head over to a nearby mountain where you will jump on an alpine style coaster, speeding down the mountain on a wing and a prayer (minus the wing). This video will give you an idea of what we are in for. www.youtube.com/watch?v=iqCkICXWdWI Of course, this is not our coaster as we are not going to Austria and I think ours does have breaks.

If you want to come, sign up soon, we are limited to fifteen members on this trip.
