This meetup serves as a forum where Philadelphia's various progressive communities can network & share ideas related to independent art & music, holistic health & fitness, alternative lifestyles, collaborative consumption, community building and social entrepreneurship.  The name "CyberTribe" refers to the idea of a peaceful, egalitarian community ("tribe") that uses the networking resources of the Information Age ("cyber") to accomplish its goals.  That's what we're trying to create in the Philadelphia area!

There seems to be a general sense that our civilization needs new solutions for the major problems we face:  endless wars, the economic crisis, a litany of environmental problems, decline of the traditional family, widespread dissatisfaction with the corporate rat race, loss of community, and a general spiritual malaise.  A variety of social movements and communities have arisen in response, each of which may possess a "piece of the puzzle" - the Burning Man community,  the Evolver Social Movement, the Venus Project, the Zeitgeist Movement, Adbusters, Raise the Vibration, Reclaim the Streets, the Cacophony Society, Improv Everywhere, the Open Source movement, the Creative Commons, New Tribalists, Polyamorists, Transhumanists, Discordians, Couchsurfers, Wikipedians, Flash Mobbers, Ravers, Cypherpunks, and hacker groups like Anonymous & Wikileaks.  A variety of new political movements have arisen as well on both ends of the political spectrum, and from Occupy Wall Street to the Tea Party, from the Green Party to the Gold Bugs, from the info-anarchists to the cyber-libertarians, the one thing we all seem to agree on is that a drastic change is necessary...  And now in 2012, it looks like it may be just around the corner!

This meetup will provide socializing & networking opportunities for members of all these diverse movements, as well as creative individuals & social innovators in general, to meet & share ideas in an open & non-dogmatic format.  Rather than boring lectures or overheated protest marches, we plan on taking a page from the Burning Man playbook and hosting some of the most amazing events in the city!  We'll also keep you aware of all the progressive parties, fundraisers & festivals in the Philly area!  These will be interspersed with philosophical discussions and creative workshops to explore the issues of the day and expose ourselves to new ideas & influences.  Call us a cybertribe, a mastermind group, an intentional community, or a collective - it doesn't matter.  We believe that when creative people come together in a spirit of open-mindedness and camaraderie, good things can't be far behind!
