The Philly New Technology Meetup highlights enterprise technology. SevOne is a big, local success story. Kevin Werbach is a leading expert on Net Neutrality. You'll hear from both. As usual, the content and networking will be great!

This PNTM follows Phorum (http://phorumphilly.com/) Philly, a technology conference which focuses on how enterprises can maximize the business value of specific technologies, held all day at the Penn Museum. Mike led the founding team of SevOne, Inc. as President and CEO. Shaping the company’s go to market strategy and vision, Mike secured the funding and built an experienced, world-class team that enabled SevOne to become one of the fastest growing, profitable, disruptive technology companies in the infrastructure management market. Under Mike’s leadership, SevOne won numerous awards and grew into customer-focused company that is changing the way service providers and global enterprises think about infrastructure performance management.

Prior to SevOne, Mike founded StorNet, Inc. in 1990 and built the company as CEO into a leading national consulting and storage networking integration firm. StorNet enjoyed 11 years of consecutive growth and profitability and achieved over $80 million in revenue. Mike was named one of the Top 20 Visionaries in the storage networking market by CMS VAR Business magazine in 2001.

Demo - Winner of the Phorum Demo Pit

Over 100 companies will vie for one of a limited number of spots in our Demo Pit. These finalists will be able to demonstrate their technology and compete for the Phorum Phorward award for best in show.

The Phorum Demo Pit was created to allow startups to connect with C-level enterprise decision makers attending the Phorum conference. Participating companies will demo their product and/or solution to over 400 Phorum attendees. Over the last three years, the quality of our demo pit companies has been world class. Guest Speaker - Kevin Werbach (http://www.linkedin.com/pub/kevin-werbach/0/0/984)

Kevin Werbach is an associate professor of Legal Studies at the Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania.A leading expert on Internet and telecommunications policy, Werbach served on the Obama Administration’s Presidential Transition Team, and then advised the FCC and Department of Commerce on broadband issues. He is a pioneer in the emerging field of gamification, the co-author of For the Win: How Game Thinking Can Revolutionize Your Business, and creator of the Coursera Gamification massive open online course (MOOC), with over 300,000 enrollments. He was named Wharton’s first-ever “Iron Prof” in 2010. Earlier in his career, he edited the influential technology newsletter Release 1.0, and helped develop the US Government’s Internet and e-commerce policies as FCC Counsel for New Technology Policy in the Clinton Administration.

The Federal Communications Commission recently decided to reclassify broadband Internet access as a telecommunications service under Title II of the Communications Act. Commentators, pundits and Internet users around the country have all tried to make sense of this decision, so we will ask one of the country's leading experts, Kevin , what the decision means and how it will affect the many different Internet communities. For this brief discussion, we are soliciting questions to ask Kevin. If you have a question for Kevin, please send it to phillynewtech @ gmail dot com.
