Web Audio Meetup #1

Details

The first web audio meetup in Philly! This will be an incredibly informal gathering of developers and musicians. Whether you are an expert in all things web audio or you're just hearing about it for the first time, all are welcome.

Please bring headphones for use during the hack session.

This is a first for us, so if you have any suggestions please feel free to reach out!

Show and Tell

Steve Goldberg's 106.js - a Juno 106 in the browser with full MIDI support (via the Web MIDI API).

Kyle Stetz's Lissajous.js - a live coding instrument for making music with Javascript in the Chrome console.

Want to show off a project? Let us know!

Intro to Web Audio

We're going to start with the basics, patching together a few AudioNodes to make a basic synthesizer. We'll cover some of the fundamentals of synthesis with an eye towards beginners, but there will be plenty of room for experimentation!

Creating Pulse Waves

Many classic synth sounds are based on the pulse waveform, but the WebAudio API doesn't provide it. We'll discuss what pulse waves are and cover a method for generating them using the tools available in WebAudio.

Open Hack Session

We'll have plenty of time left to show off projects in progress, find collaborators for new projects, and seek help.
