PhillyDB is oriented toward a broad audience of database professionals, remaining all-inclusive in terms of systems and disciplines.  We will discuss enterprise systems (Oracle, SQLServer, DB2), open source systems (MySQL, PostgreSQL, SQLite),  and big data management tools (Hadoop; MPP, real-time SQL, NoSQL databases).  We will talk about using these systems as architects, developers and DBAs alike. 

This generality of focus is pursued because most database professionals use, or at least know, multiple systems and have experience across disciplines.  And it is in the best interest of one's career to develop skills across systems and disciplines.
