DevOps at Scale & An Introduction to CoreOS

Details
We've got two talks lined up for the September Philly DevOps meetup. Don't miss either of these!
DevOps at Scale, Nathan Mische
Quite frequently we hear about DevOps in the context of small or young companies, but what does it take to enable DevOps in a 100,000+ employee organization with over 50 years of technical and IT history? Nathan will give some insights into how his team is doing just that at Comcast. From defining just what “DevOps” means to his team, to enabling service delivery in the cloud, Nathan will share some of the highs and lows his team has encountered as they strive to change the way Comcast works.
Nathan Mische is the manager of the Service Engineering and Delivery (SED) team within Comcast’s Comcast Interactive Media (CIM) group. The SED team works to improve how CIM delivers web scale Internet services by understanding and optimizing the entire service delivery stack.
An Introduction to CoreOS, Hector Castro
CoreOS is an interesting operating system that attempts to provide a lightweight, stable, and secure deployment environment for Linux containers.
In this talk you'll receive an introduction to CoreOS and its components. We will go through some techniques currently used to deploy applications and how they'd likely change to accommodate a CoreOS environment.
Hector Castro is an Operations Engineer at Azavea Inc., a geospatial analysis firm specializing in location-based web and mobile application development. Previously, he was a Developer Advocate at Basho Technologies.
