Philly EdTech Meetup - DEMO NIGHT!

It's time for another Philly EdTech Meetup Demo Night to kick off the academic year!  These are our most popular events. Watch the demos and give feedback!

Companies who demo will have 5 minutes and 20 slides that advance every 15 seconds to share their company product.  It's fast paced and fun.

We will choose 5 companies to demo, and they will be notified by Thursday September 4th.

Excellent meeting and a wide variety of innovative tech. As I mentioned to the people I met, as the Exec Dir of the PA/DE/NJ Distance Learning Association http://www.padla.org I wholeheartedly recommend that all attend our 10/14/14 Virtual Trade Show and our 12/16/14 12th Annual Conference & Expo. I was a little late, but saw 3 of the demos. As always, nice to chat with folks and find out what is happening on Philly EdTech scene. If you are a Computer Science Teacher at the k-16 arena, consider joining CSTA>>Philly (Computer Scients Teachers Association. https://sites.google.com/site/cstaphilly/

Thanks for the chance to let everyone know the Learning Technologies MS and Instructional Technology Specialist (ITS) certificate is in Philly. You can learn more at http://www.harrisburgu.edu/learningtechnologies. See you at EdCamp Harrisburg on November 1 (free K-12 unconference - www.edcamphbg.org). It's a 1 hour and 50 minute trip by train. Harrisburg University is right across from the train station.

Would love to chat about this PBS/Clay Shirky article, if anyone is interested?

Clay Shirky or not, it sounds like the students are doing a lot of listening in class, versus being active, if there is that much opportunity for the students to become distracted. There's usually a good balance that can be struck between required no-tech/listen time, using technology for active learning, and teaching the students to use technology responsibly and appropriately. Innate biological responses are a consideration, but there are plenty of examples of us overcoming our biological urges/responses in favor of efficiency, more effective outcomes, social norm, etc. This article presents important points for the technology integration discussion, but from the context of the article I can't say I agree with his approach in his course.

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
