Writing Ruby Apps for the Amazon Echo - Zach Feldman (https://twitter.com/zachfeldman)

When the Amazon Echo voice command speaker came out, it was impossible to write custom apps for it. Using a watir - powered web scraper, Zach Feldman created an API where there wasn’t one to control the lights and temperature in his apartment (see http://alexaho.me (http://alexaho.me/)). The official developer tools for the Echo have now been released, allowing developers to create web services that respond to Echo commands. This talk is an overview of creating web services for this new platform using Ruby and Sinatra.
