" Thank you for this wonderful guided photography walk around Highgate Cemetery East. I've enjoyed it very...very much, especially because you're such a great storyteller and invested a considerable amount of time to research the "residents".Daniel
A guided tour from a photographer's perspective, - the tour is fully guided so that whilst taking you significant grave locations , you have time to set up your shots as well as learn about the lives of the many remarkable people who rest in the Cemetery, along with the history of this living memory to Victoriana in the context of London & see hopefully the foxes, squirrels, woodpeckers & resident cat that live in this nature reserve !
Teaching: All levels of experience are welcome, those who would like extra help I will be very happy to help as usual, we will have plenty of time for setting up shots & taking in the special atmosphere.
Cost: £11 each - This Includes the ticket entry price to The Cemetery.

Please check out the photo album to really get a flavour of the amazing location & photographic opportunities. Spring is here, new life, new fauna, activity - hopefully soft light - an atmospheric setting for an afternoon spent photographing this exceptionally atmospheric Victorian cemetery - probably the most famous in England. It is designated Grade I on the English Heritage (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/English_Heritage) Register of Parks and Gardens of Special Historic Interest in England (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/National_Register_of_Historic_Parks_and_Gardens) with 53,000 graves & a nature reserve. The attraction is not only that Karl Marx, George Elliot or Douglas Adams, Malcolm Mc Claren along with a host of other remarkable people.. but also the abundance of ornate & distinctive sculptures, headstones that nestle in the natural greenery, rather like " an in between" twilight world...

For photographers, the place is truly an absolute gift - your creative juices can run wild - black & white, vintage - fabulous compositions - variety of lighting - it's all there " for the taking " . Imagine cloudy or flat light, perhaps some sunlight, against the contrasting grey marbles & granite, within the autumnal greenery.. We are already thinking about opportunities for working in low light, playing with contrasts & saturation, bw, sepia, vintage...

Meeting Place : I suggest that we meet outside the entrance to Highgate East Cemetery, on Swaines Laine at 12.00 pm. this should give us plenty of time & then The Ancient Flask Pub is a short walk away.
The Photographer's Tour : The East cemetery is a large winding nature reserve, with foxes, squirrels & woodpeckers living amongst the graves, a maze of footpaths in a gentle forest.
