A mitten separated from its twin and perched on this tree stump provided a much needed splash of colour in today's almost monochrome setting. Tech: Canon 7D with EF 24-70mm F/2.8 L; Focal length 62mm, Apeture F/3.2, Shutter 1/200s, ISO 100, Ecposure compensation -0.7 stops

I like this, love finding lost shoes/mittens etc they seem to tell a story. Did you have a wider shot of this? Giving it even more space would make the mitten seem even more lost and lonely :)

I took several frames of this subject, but regretfully none any wider.

The colours do really make this. It a nice, human, quiet image. Its reportage and landscape. I like it. Hannah, unsurprisingly is right I think in saying that it could have been wider. It does feel a little like a portrait of a glove. Its always a good exercise to shoot wider than you think you want as you just never know when you are going to need that extra space later on. It does make me want to point out to everyone how annoyed I get at people who leave lost gloves on walls and fence posts and things though. When you have lost something, and you go back to find it, where do you look for it? Up a tree? In a bush? No! You look on the ground! You look in the place where you dropped it! When you drop things they go down! Stop putting things up on things in a stupid attempt to make it more obvious. That's why you always see gloves on posts and not on the ground. All the ones on the ground have been found by their owners. All the ones on the posts are still there. Lost and lonely.....Sorry...ranting...

I think the "shoot wider" principle is one I will be working on a bit :-)
