An Introduction to DSLR Photography - Back to the Basics

Note: this class will be held at Saddleback Church's San Clemente Campus beginning at 10 AM

In this class we will be going back to the basics and learn what it takes to make a great photograph.  If you are a new photographer or just looking to get a better understanding on how your camera works, this class is for you.  We will cover the various program settings of a DSLR camera, from manual, aperture priority, shutter priority and program mode.  We will explain the effects aperture, shutter speed, ISO and white balance have on your photographs. We will also talk about composition and lens selection.

If you are unsure how to use the settings of your camera bring it along with the manual to class and one of the professionals at the event will give you a hands on advice at the end of the class.

    Answering Michelle's Question…
We will be having an event at Saddleback's Rancho Capistrano campus on March 29th which will include a classroom session on Landscape photography, followed by a break out session photographing the Rancho Capistrano campus (which, if you've never been there, has awesome photographic opportunities). We will be sure to have at least one or two experts on hand to help with any questions our students may have in a "hands on" approach.

      Hi Jeff,

I don't see this class on the meet up calendar. Will it be added?

Yes, Don should be adding this class to MeetUp soon.

Interesting speech today. Thank you for the information. Do you have workshops that are more hands-on? So we can get practice using our cameras. If so, I would love to attend if possible. Thanks again.

Michelle, many of our classes have workshops following the classroom sessions. We also plan of doing more field trips in the future like the one we recently did at Joshua Tree. At the upcoming Summit we will have several shooting zones where you will be able to photograph couples, families and professional skateboarders.

I wish we had a breakout session to actually get to know our camera so that we would have an idea of what the speaker was referring to.

I also just saw its in San Clemente. I won't be able to make that. Is there a way to get notes from this class?

I was just preparing to drive to the Saddleback refinery where I took your great class several weeks ago - only I now read that today's class is in San Clemente! Sorry not driving that far south of Huntington Beach.

You can if you like but you don't have to

I'm sorry but I just started a new job, and won't be able to attend this class on Saturday, but hopefully next time. Thank you so much!
