Join Betty Wiley and Amy Davies for this special one-day photography workshop exploring the beauty of autumn on Cape Cod.
This workshop will be held on a weekday (Monday, September 24) with a rain date of Tuesday, September 25th. September weekends can often be busy with tourists so we selected a weekday in order to maximize our shooting opportunities.
We will explore some of Betty's favorite locations on idyllic Cape Cod in and around Yarmouth and Chatham. Many of her photographs have appeared in Cape Cod Magazine and a photo essay of Betty and her work appeared in the July 2011 issue last summer. Most recently, the photograph below was chosen as the cover image for “Chatham Magazine”, an annual publication on Cape Cod. As a full-time resident, Betty knows "The Cape" and it's many beautiful locations.

Locations to include a beautiful lighthouse, a beach boardwalk at sunrise surrounded by golden marsh grasses (this location can be good for birds at this time of year), and a quaint harbor in the late afternoon in Chatham. Driving will be kept to a minimum so we can spend more time shooting and less time driving.

Itinerary, subject to change:
We will meet for sunrise to photograph one of the Cape's prettiest marshes and a boardwalk that stretches out over the marsh, then grab breakfast at a charming little café nearby on historic route 6A. Mid-morning through mid-afternoon will be spent uploading and processing images from the morning shoot. Betty and Amy will share some of their favorite processing tips to help you optimize your images. The use of NIK plug-ins will be covered, but are not necessary.
A late lunch at a colorful, local eating establishment in Chatham before we head off for the late afternoon/sunset locations.
Sunrise is at 6:30, we will meet at 5:30 or when you can get there, finishing up after sunset at 6:30pm.
Meals and Transportation are not included, however we will help facilitate carpooling as needed when we gather in the morning. Betty and Amy have some availability in their cars.
You are sure to leave with beautiful images of your own and you will be provided with help and tips on composition and settings, if needed.
Need To Bring:
A camera that has the ability to change basic settings: ISO, Aperture and Shutter Speed. You should be familiar with the operation of your camera for this workshop. A 24-105mm lens or similar focal length is recommended. A 70-200 mm (or similar) will also be useful for tighter compositions. In addition, a circular polarizer will be helpful to increase saturation of the beautiful fall colors and to minimize glare.
A sturdy tripod.
Attendees who wish to process their images will need laptops or a portable desktop with either Photoshop or Photoshop Elements (a version that supports layers and masking, 9 or 10 works best). NIK software is optional and a 15-day trial version can be uploaded for this class.
If you do not have a laptop or desktop you can bring, you may share with a friend if that works for you.
Cost
For this iconic photography tour of Cape Cod is $150 per person for the entire day.
Includes instruction at the photography locations and classroom time.
To register, click 'Yes' under 'will you attend?' and pay using PayPal. Your confirmation is being on the list of attendees with the word 'paid' next to your name.
Requirements needed from students for post processing:
While high proficiency is not required for Photoshop or Elements, knowledge of how to navigate the programs, download images from your camera and find them, and move them around your laptop and software programs is required.
Refund Policy:
If you find you can not attend, it is up to you to contact someone on the waiting list, or a friend and make arrangements with them to take your place. Refunds only if we have to change or cancel (see below). Thank you.
This workshop will be professional, informative and fun!
RAIN DATE is Tuesday, September 25th. We will decide a few days before this event if we need to change the date and will notify everyone as soon as we can by email, so keep an eye on your email and make sure we have one that you check. If we have to change the original date, you will receive a refund if you can't make the rain date. Our goal is for everyone to have a wonderful experience, so we don't want to go out in bad weather.
Limited to 12 attendees plus Betty and Amy.
