South Florida Fair Photo Extravaganza!

Come one, come all to the South Florida Fairgrounds. Join your event organizers and instructors for a late day and early evening photo-opportunity bonanza! Admission $15, Seniors $9.

For anyone who has never been to our county’s biggest annual event with their camera, let us entice you with just some of the fun things to shoot. Besides all the typical fare at the fair, there are rows and rows of amusements, sky rides, the Palm Beach Model Railroad Club (Concourse Bldg), the ‘Motorsports Experience’ - race cars, race simulator, motorcycles and NASCAR souvenirs at the checkered flag across from the Party Pavilion. Also of interest are the Petting Zoo, Pony Rides and so much more. Be sure to catch the evening’s crowning glory (photographically speaking) after dark with the bright whirling and spinning Midway rides. Sunset is at 5:52 pm.

One can also spend hours in Yesteryear Village where, when you walk in, you are transported to a different time. A time when schools were located in one small building and houses did not have running water; a time when people had goats, chickens, and sheep in their backyards; a time when life was simple. There are reenactments during the day and evening. Don't miss this opportunity as Yesteryear Village is only open during selected times of the year.

Parking: There are ‘preferred’ parking lots available for $20 on weekends but there are also free lots to the north and east of the grounds with regularly scheduled complimentary tram rides to the ticketing booths.

Directions: We will meet at The Yesteryear Village Entrance

Yesteryear Village is located on the South Florida Fairgrounds in West Palm Beach, 1.5 miles west of the Florida Turnpike.
From I-95:
Exit at Southern Boulevard. Exit #68. Go west approximately 7 miles. Turn right on Sansbury’s Way/Lyons Rd. Enter Gate 3 to Archway Gate.

From Turnpike:

I really enjoyed the location as well as meeting some new photographers. i also appreciated Russell's help with funtions of my camera. This is my first meetup so I did not know what to expect. I would have liked a chance to meetup at the end to share experiences. Do people share their photos from the meetup.

We just put up an album for Fair photos. Go to "photos" on the home page, click on the "Fair" album, then look at the top to see "add photos" and follow the prompts from there. Looking forward to seeing your photos.

I had a great time as did my wife. We saw a calf being born though couldn't get close enough for a good shot.
There was much else to photograph.
