  • It's time for our February Pi Masters meeting!  We will be getting together at Microsoft in Chevy Chase, Maryland on Thursday, February 13, 2014 at 5:30 pm.  PLEASE NOTE: This was originally planned for February 6, but due to scheduling conflicts will be held on February 13.  Doors will open at 5:30 pm and the event will start at 6:00 pm.  RSVP here on  Again, I encourage you to bring your kids if you plan on building projects together with them!

Pi Masters was formed to encourage people of all levels and ages to come together to learn about and experiment with coding, engineering, electronics, and their interests in making digitally enabled devices, specifically using the Raspberry Pi, but also using such platforms as Arduino, BeagleBone and the like. All these platforms are affordable (Raspberry Pi runs around $35), readily available, small in size (just around 2” by 3”), and easy to use. We will share projects that we’ve built and tips to help each other create cool things.

This meetup is a collaborative effort organized by Multi Platform Media and Multi Platform Labs.

Please join us at this exciting event that we hope will bring together a collaborative and supportive maker community here in the Washington DC area.

Zak, that is an excellent question. I've been following the weather as well and while there is always the chance that this storm doesn't live up to expectations, the Weather Channel is now predicting a 100% chance for 4 to 8 inches of snow. Therefore, because it is almost a certainty that we will all be stuck in our homes on Thursday, I am cancelling this weeks meeting already now. I will send out an e-mail to the entire membership shortly. Our next get-together is March 6 and I will focus my time on making that an even better meeting. I look forward to seeing everyone then!

Question... If there is a storm on Thursday, how will we get a cancelation notice? I only ask because of the expected bad weather... Looking forward to it.

First time I've heard of WandBoard -- thanks for the link - interested in hearing of your experiences with it! In the interests of sharing links, I'm looking at to add a real-time clock to the Pi so that when it's "living" in my glove compartment, it has the right time for taking pictures. ;)
